Pitsilis at the 4th Economic Conference of “N”: What changes with Artificial Intelligence in AADE

Artificial Intelligence helps us build networks against crime, for example, "this person deals with that person, what is the route, etc. So in real time, many times our auditors see on the screen a network that they need to intervene.

We have laid the foundations for what we call “a service, a responsibility, a system,” said the Governor of the Independent Authority of Public Revenue (AADE), George Pitsilis, in the context of the 4th Naftemporiki Economic Conference.

“That is where we want to get the new Taxis,” said Pitsilis.

Artificial Intelligence helps us build networks against crime, for example, “this person deals with that person, what is the route, etc. So in real time, many times our auditors see on the screen a network that they need to intervene.”

Another application, explained Pitsilis, for example, could be the configuration of a proper chatbot for collecting information and why not, tomorrow, a human face with whom one can talk and receive answers.

Asked if Artificial Intelligence is a dual ally both in serving citizens and in better control, Pitsilis said, a proper and qualitative analysis can even provide a predictive model: If you have sufficient data, you can say “I have seen this before” and try to prevent phenomena, such as debts that no one will be able to manage.

“Customs is also a very big challenge for us,” he underlined. In a country that invests in trade and wants to boost exports, it must also manage its imports. Having modern control tools that can respond to problems of delinquency without at the same time preventing legitimate trade from operating is really very important, and this transformation has already begun in customs.
