The only block that is likely to be drilled in the coming years is block 2 west of Corfu, said Mathios Rigas, CEO of the ENERGEAN Group in his intervention at the 4th Economic Conference of “N”.

“That’s where Total and ELPE were once. Total made the decision to leave. So we took the block into our own hands, we did the seismic surveys and we are ready to start the first drilling,” Rigas said and added:

“I hope that we will not have the known obstacles and that we will be able to see the first drilling in the next two years. And only then will we know if there is oil or natural gas. We will only know when we do the drilling.”

Rigas pointed out the need for energy production in the country and cited the US, Russia, the Gulf countries and Israel as examples.
