The Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted on Tuesday the symposium on “Clean Technology for Shipbuilding and Shipping”, in collaboration with the German-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry with focus on the green transition and digital transformation of shipbuilding and shipping in general.
During his opening remarks, the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vassilis Korkidis, welcomed the representatives of the 11 German and 43 Greek companies in the shipping sector, highlighting the importance of the transnational cooperation between Greece and Germany in the strategic sector of the shipbuilding industry.
He emphasized that Piraeus is a natural hub for the development of technological and business synergies, capable of enhancing the competitiveness of European shipping and leading to an ecological and innovative shipbuilding era.
“Our Chamber firmly believes in the power of transnational cooperation and in the creation of solid institutional and business bridges.
Through such events, we strengthen the interconnection of businesses, promote investment opportunities and contribute to the transition towards a more ecological and competitive shipbuilding future, bringing together stakeholders from the Greek shipping industry with German providers of leading technology.”
He added that “Piraeus keeps the door open to developing synergies with German businesses.”
Korkidis also stated that the challenges of shipping and the shipbuilding industry are enormous, especially at this time, where the Greek shipbuilding industry has irrevocably emerged from a long period of inactivity, but the same applies to the European shipbuilding industry, which has seen its know-how move to Asia.
