Athens hosted the ARGO forum: New Nuclear Energy for Greek Shipping. Ioannis Kourasis, senior nuclear engineer at CORE POWER UK, stressed that nuclear power can outperform conventional fuels, offering the highest capacity factor in power generation.
Thomas Davies, Director of Analytics at CORE POWER, pointed out that floating nuclear power plants can enhance regional energy security, with Greece in an advantageous position to lead the transition.
Reference was made to the explosive growth in global energy demand, underlining the need to coordinate nuclear, maritime and environmental frameworks. Finally, Chris Wiernicki, CEO of ABS, stated that “nuclear shipping is not a distant future, but a goal we are already pursuing.”
