Τhe Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO) has become a member of GO15, the association of the world’s largest Transmission System Operators.
The Operator’s membership in GO15 was achieved thanks to the complex domestic and regional high-voltage direct current (HVDC) electrical interconnection projects that it is implementing or planning, combined with Greece’s strategic geographical location and rich renewable potential.
The association aims to promote international networking and the exchange of knowledge and good practices among Operators in the face of common challenges and technical issues they face.
By joining GO15, IPTO strengthens its extroversion and international presence, creating new ties and strengthening the existing ones with the Operators of the largest Transmission Systems in the world from countries such as the USA, China, France, Brazil and Russia.
GO15 members, who together manage over 50% of the world’s electricity demand, collaborate to identify emerging technologies for the modernization and shielding of electrical systems, such as digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, the integration of storage systems as well as strategies for the safe adaptation of networks to low-carbon energy sources.
Among the main objectives of GO15 is also the improvement of the resilience of electrical systems and the preparedness of Operators in crisis incidents.
