A daily ferry boat route connecting the small port of Lavrio, in the extreme southeast Athens area, with the western Turkish port of Cesme will begin on June 2.
The sea journey is expected to take seven hours, significantly cutting the travel time for travellers and lorry drivers heading from Asia Minor to Europe during peak periods.
The shipping company that will operate the line is Aegean Seaways (aegeanseaways.com) and is based in Istanbul. The company’s representative in Greece is Stefmar.
