Performance Shipping is investing in “green” ships in order to further reduce its environmental footprint.
According to the ESG report for 2024, an impressive 13.6% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions per tonne mile was recorded as well as a 4.8% cut in energy consumption compared to 2022.
The company’s entire fleet now uses non-toxic anti-pollution paints, aiming to protect marine life.
Telemetric monitoring of emissions on ships was launched in 2024 while the implementation of voyage optimization technologies and alternative fuels is being examined.
An important initiative for the modernization of the company’s fleet in 2024 was the conclusion of a contract for the acquisition of a modern LR1 class tanker, ecologically designed and suitable for the transport of chemical and petroleum products.
The ship features a state-of-the-art engine and emission control systems, as well as a scrubber and ballast water treatment system.
This is the fourth shipbuilding contract in the last two years, which comes in addition to three more modern LR2-class, LNG-ready tankers with similar equipment.
The ships are under construction and are scheduled for delivery between 2025 and January 2027.
At the same time, it invests in the training and professional development of its executives, with the aim of creating a safe and supportive working environment that promotes excellence and sustainability.
