Greece’s trade deficit reached 3.137 billion euros in June 2025, with exports moving downward, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
Specifically, the deficit rose to 3.137 billion euros compared to 2.355 billion in the corresponding month last year, showing a double-digit increase of 33.2% as there was an increase in the value of imports and a decrease in the value of exports.
The corresponding value excluding petroleum products in June showed an increase of 452.1 million euros or 20.5%, while excluding petroleum products and ships there was an increase of 420.3 million euros or 19.1%.
8.3% decrease in exports
The total value of imports in June 2025 amounted to 7,080.6 million euros compared to 6,657.2 million euros in the same month of 2024, showing an increase of 6.4% (excluding petroleum products there was an increase of 560.9 million euros or 10.9%, while excluding petroleum products and ships there was an increase of 560.6 million euros or 11%).
The total value of exports amounted to 3.943 billion euros compared to 4.302 billion euros in June 2024, showing a decrease of 8.3% (excluding petroleum products, there was an increase of 108.8 million euros or 3.7%, while excluding petroleum products and ships, there was an increase of 140.3 million euros or 4.8%).
In the first half of 2024, the total value of imports reaced 40.657 billion euros compared to 42.122 billion euros in the same period of 2024, down 3.5% (excluding petroleum products, there was an increase of 1.454 billion euros or 4.7%, while excluding petroleum products and ships, there was an increase of 1.378 billion euros or 4.4%).
The total value of exports stood at 24.113 billion euros compared to 25.360 billion euros in the first half of 2024, showing a decrease of 4.9% (excluding petroleum products, there was an increase of 974.7 million euros or 5.5%, while excluding petroleum products and ships, there was an increase of 1,021.0 million euros or 5.8%).
The trade balance deficit amounted to 16.544 billion euros compared to 16.762 million euros in the first half of 2024, showing a decrease of 1.3% (excluding petroleum products, there was an increase of 479.7 million euros or 3.6%, while excluding petroleum products and ships, there was an increase of 356.9 million euros or 2.7%).
