Crocus-based dish gets rave reviews at Italian culinary event

One high-end Greek agricultural product that is usually bundled together when pointing to a more sustainable future for the local farm sector, namely, crocus, a genus of flowering plants in the iris family, made its debut recently at one of Italy’s best-known restaurants, on the 20th floor of the Faro Tower in Milan.

According to the website Kozan.gr – which covers the Kozani prefecture of northern Greece, where most of Greece’s crocus cultivation is located – chef Tano Simonato received raves reviews from 200 VIP diners during a charity event at the Unico restaurant for his dish “croco di Kozani, with crème cheese, Parma prosciutto and bacon”.
