Passenger traffic at the 24 airports managed by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) increased by 14% in the first quarter of 2025, compared to the corresponding period in 2024.
According to the statistics, the total number of passengers (arrivals and departures of international and domestic passengers) in January-April 2025 at the airports in Heraklion, Kalamata, Alexandroupoli, Limnos, Astypalaia, Ioannina, Chios, Kozani, Kastoria, Karpathos, Kythira, Milos, Skyros, Nea Anchialos, Paros, Syros, Araxos, Naxos, Kalymnos, Ikaria, Kastelorizo, Kasos, Leros, Sitia amounted to 1,415,331 passengers, compared to 1,241,640 passengers in 2024.
Kazantzakis Airport: 22% increase in April
More specifically, the state airport of Heraklion, Crete, served 595,306 passengers in April, i.e. an increase of 22.2% compared to last year, when 487,303 passengers were served in the same month.
The most significant percentage increases in passenger traffic at the airports managed by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority in April 2025, compared to 2024, were recorded at Kastelorizo Airport (+68.1%) and Kastoria Airport (+58.9%).
39 airports
A 9.2% increase was also recorded in passenger traffic in the first four months of 2025 at all airports in the country where commercial flights are carried out (39 airports: 24 CAA, 14 Fraport Greece, Athens International Airport). Specifically, passenger traffic reached 13,804,391 in January-April 2025 , compared to 12,645,721 passengers in the corresponding period of 2024.
Regarding arrivals and departures of domestic and international aircraft in the first four months of 2025, at all 39 airports in the country, whose air traffic control is mainly exercised by the Hellenic Aviation Authority, an increase of 6.5% was recorded compared to 2024.
More specifically, 116,707 flights were carried out in total in the period January-April 2025, compared to 109,603 in the first four months of 2024.
