Βloomberg: Novartis probe finds no trace of bribes to Greek politicians

A Bloomberg report on Wednesday, quoting a Novartis AG “internal investigation“,  dived directly into a Greek political clash involving insinuations by the current Greek government that a bevy of past prime ministers and health ministers, most being political rivals, received bribes from the Swiss multinational.

Members the leftist Tsipras government, which is badly trailing main opposition New Democracy (ND) party ahead of three upcoming elections in 2019 – municipal/regional, European Parliament, and primarily, a general election – have based their sharp criticism on allegations by three anonymous witnesses. The latter‘s testimony forms the backbone of a controversial investigation by an anti-corruption prosecutor for nearly two years.

The opposition has directly charged that the investigation is politically motivated and relies solely on claims by three anonymous witnesses, and without any corroborating evidence.
