ACCI: Greek businesses continued to move on a positive trajectory in 2023

New businesses of all forms were, for another year, almost three times more than closures

Greek businesses continued to move on a positive trajectory in 2023, despite the challenges due to inflation and high interest rates.

Based on the data of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) regarding the opening and closure of businesses, the number of new businesses increased further last year.

More specifically, new businesses of all forms were, for another year, almost three times more than closures.

In particular, during the last year, 8,655 businesses were registered and 2,897 were deleted from the General Commercial Register compared to 7,465 registrations and 2,532 deletions in 2022. The balance of registrations – deletions increased to 5,758 in 2023 from 4,933 in 2022.

It is worth noting that a strong increase of 50% compared to 2022 was recorded in the balance of openings-closures in SA companies.

More specifically, last year 1,003 SA companies were registered and 388 were deleted, with the balance amounting to 615 companies, compared to 403 in 2022.
