Banks facing series of challenges

Greek banks will likely proceed with MREL issuances next week since the SRB has asked the credit institutions to speed up the procedures.

The banks are facing a series of challenges over the next period following the elections, including the announcement of first half results, the stress tests and the implementation of difficult business plans in order to achieve the goals of credit expansion, profitability and MREL.

Greek banks will likely proceed with MREL issuances next week since the SRB has asked the credit institutions to speed up the procedures.

Regarding the stress tests, Greek banks seem to be doing extremely well, according to sources close to the process.

The tests are expected to start at the end of the month and their results, which are intended to vindicate the Greek banks, will be issued on July 28.

Moreover, the banks are implementing the projects to prepare for their full privatization as the Financial Stability Fund is expected within the current year to announce the relevant tenders for the distribution of the percentages it owns at least to the systemic banks.
