New delays and postponements are expected in the implementation of the plan of the Independent Public Revenue Authority which provides for the interconnection of 540,000 cash registers and other tax mechanisms with the POS terminals of businesses.
The implementation of the project, which includes the upgrading of the existing 400,000 cash registers as well as the replacement of another 140,000 tax electronic mechanisms with new ones that will be inviolable, has been postponed for at least 3-4 months. And the interconnection will be delayed even more since the POS providers are not yet ready to implement it.
According to the program announced by the Finance Ministry and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) at the end of March 2023, the upgrade of 400,000 cash registers must be completed by the end of June 2023 for businesses with an annual turnover of up to 100,000 euros and until the end of July 2023 for businesses with an annual turnover of more than 100,000 euros. The newly revised schedule foresees that the upgrade of all cash registers will be completed by the end of October. As for the interconnection, given the current unpreparedness of POS providers, its completion has been postponed to the end of 2023.
