Greece’s Independent Power Transmission Operator S.A. (IPTO), known by its Greek-language acronym of ADMIE, is reportedly attracting the attention of Italian energy concerns ahead of the sale of 20 percent of its shares.
The reports were linked to a meeting in Athens on Thursday evening between Greek Environment and Energy Minister Panos Skourletis and Italian Foreign Affairs Minister Paolo Gentiloni, who was accompanied by several Italian energy sector executives.
Representatives of state-run and private energy companies active in Greece and Italy met on the sidelines of the meeting, with officials from Greece’s state-run power company PPC joining executives from IPTO, the partially state-owned Hellenic Petroleum (EL.PE) group, the state-run natural gas supplier DE.PA and the Centre for Renewable Energy, on the one hand, meeting with representatives of Terna, Eni, Edison and Enel Green Power from the Italian side.
