Travlos: Targeting shipping harms international security and the well-being of citizens

"The targeting of shipping, economically, politically and operationally, harms international security and the well-being of the citizens," she added

“We express our deep sorrow for the loss of seafarers in the line of duty, as well as for the attacks on ships that serve the smooth functioning of the global supply chain,” the president of the Union of Greek Shipowners, Melina Travlos, noted in a statement on maritime security, following the incident of the sinking of the Eternity C in the Red Sea.

“The targeting of shipping, economically, politically and operationally, harms international security and the well-being of the citizens,” she added.

“Protecting freedom of navigation is a duty of all of us, as it is a foundation of peace, stability and humanity. The seas must be free and safe,” Travlou stressed in her statement.

Greece’s Cosmoship Management has said that one person is believed dead and four more are missing since Houthi militants attacked the Eternity C cargo ship in the Red Sea last week.
