“Is there anyone who understands when the war in Ukraine will end or when the sanctions against Russia, which are full of hypocrisy, will stop?”

In an era of information overload and geopolitical confusion, shipping needs more faith in the new generation, George Tsavliris, founder of Tsavliris Salvage, stated in the context of his intervention at the 9th Shipping Conference held by “Naftemporiki”.

“What should we look at first? The war in Ukraine, the sanctions, the unrest in the Red Sea? All this creates an atmosphere of confusion that does not affect us as much as the next generation.”

Experience is valuable, but it is not enough on its own, he underlined. “You have called us here for our experience. But experience is not always for the benefit of society. The experienced person does not have the flexibility, the boldness and the faith to do things that people 30 and 40 years younger can do.”

Speaking about the geopolitical environment, he appeared skeptical and critical: “Is there anyone who understands when the war in Ukraine will end or when the sanctions against Russia, which are full of hypocrisy, will stop?” According to him, the ambiguity and the absence of solid answers are paralyzing: “All this keeps us confused. I have never seen such a level of information overload that causes such confusion.”
