A new agreement with the French shipbuilding giant Naval Group Hellas, a subsidiary of Naval Group in Greece, was signed by FARAD S.A., in the context of the international exhibition DEFEA 2025.
As stated in a relevant announcement, the agreement confirms the know-how, competitiveness and the upgraded role that Greek manufacturing companies, as well as the broader Greek industry, can play in equipment programs.
What the agreement provides for
The agreement marks a significant milestone in the long-term cooperation of FARAD S.A. with Naval Group, one of the leading naval defense companies in Europe. The five-year agreement establishes FARAD S.A. as one of the maintenance providers for the three new FDI (Frégate de Défense et d’Intervention) frigates of the Hellenic Navy, which are being built by Naval Group. Under the agreement, FARAD S.A. will provide a wide range of technical maintenance services, covering various systems and equipment, in order to ensure the continuous operational readiness and long-term performance of the ships. In particular, FARAD S.A. will contribute with its extensive know-how, not only in the production and supply of high-performance heat exchangers, but also in the provision of comprehensive maintenance services for vital systems of the frigates.
Strengthening the position of Greek industry in demanding naval programs
“We have just signed our new agreement with FARAD S.A. For us, at Naval Group, it is natural to maintain and develop our collaboration with FARAD S.A., which is already participating in the construction of the FDI frigates, but also to extend it to future new ship construction and service projects,” said the CEO of Naval Group Hellas, Benoit Chapalain, following the signing of the agreement.
“FARAD S.A.’s participation, through this new contract, in the upcoming In-Service Support activities of the FDI frigates, is another substantial example of Naval Group’s ambitious Greek Industrial Participation plan,” he emphasized.
Panagiotis Fanouriadis, Commercial Director of FARAD S.A., commented: “This agreement reflects our stable and long-standing cooperation with the Naval Group and strengthens the position of the Greek industry in demanding naval programs. It is a practical recognition of our technical competence and our ongoing commitment to quality and innovation. We are proud to strengthen our cooperation with the Naval Group and contribute to the operational strength of the Hellenic Navy.”
