Hellenic Banking Association: Significant footprint on society, economy in 2023

The 4 systemic banks were the first to show their undivided support not only for those affected from the floods in the Thessaly region, but also for the national effort to restore the damage to infrastructure

The footprint of the Hellenic Banking Association (HBA) on the society, the economy and the banks in 2023 was significant.

As noted, the Hellenic Banking Association completed 95 years of operation in 2023, leaving its mark through:

  • Extensive Corporate Social Responsibility actions
  • Borrower support
  • Financial literacy and education actions
  • Participation in events concerning the wider financial sector
  • Significant financing of the Greek economy by the member banks

The 4 systemic banks (NATIONAL BANK, PIRAEUS BANK, ALPHA BANK, EUROBANK) were the first to show their undivided support not only for those affected from the floods in the Thessaly region, but also for the national effort to restore the damage to infrastructure.

Moreover, they proceeded with the write-off of personal (non-business) debts for the families of the victims of the deadly Tempi train accident while they also donated 500,000 euros for the earthquake victims in Turkey.

The Association also responded immediately to the emergency appeal of Action Aid to support those affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, with a donation of 9,000 euros for the purchase of heaters for 255 families.

It also granted a total amount of 30,000 euros from its budget, to schools, universities, student associations and other organizations of the country to finance their educational and social activities, scholarships and strengthening their infrastructure.
