Greek stocks fall on profit taking

The Large Cap index fell 0.56% and the Mid Cap index ended 0.53% down. Turnover was a thin 51.65 million euros in volume of 14,432,467 shares.

Greek stocks ended slightly lower on the Athens Stock Exchange on Monday. The general index of the market eased 0.53% to close at 1,105.42 points, off the day’s lows of 1,101.87 points.

The Large Cap index fell 0.56% and the Mid Cap index ended 0.53% down. Turnover was a thin 51.65 million euros in volume of 14,432,467 shares.

Terna Energy (2.18%), Jumbo (1.50%) and Sarantis (1.19%) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while Piraeus Bank (-3.85%), Ellaktor (-3.33%), Lamda Development (-1.98%) and Elvalhalcor (-1.29%) suffered losses. Among market sectors, Personal Products (1.16%) and Insurance (0.55%) moved up, while Health (-1.86%) and Banks (-1.63%) moved down. Piraeus Bank and Alpha Bank were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, decliners led advancers by 63 to 39 with another 21 issues unchanged. Nakas (4.31%) and Petropoulos (3.95%) were top gainers, while Sato (-19.23%) and Leventeris (-9.40%) were top losers.
