The town hall of a municipality in southern Athens was the latest target of members of a notorious self-styled “anarchist collective” on Monday morning.
This time, roughly 10 suspects, riding small “underbone-type” motorcycles, broke the glass entrance of the Alimos municipality building and threw red paint inside, the “modus operandi” of previous such “interventions” by the “Rouvikonas” group.
In a post on a website repeatedly used to justify such attacks by so-called “anti-state” and anarchists groups, a text claims the action was in retaliation for the death of a garbage truck driver last month.
Local media later pinpointed the incident on Nov. 16, 2018, when the vehicle overturned on a roadway while headed to a landfill in northwest Athens.
