Greece to submit request for (Recovery Fund) subsidy to EU Commission in May

Greece will have the largest Public Investment Program (PIP) of the last 14 years, totaling 12.2 billion euros together with the two NSRFs and the Recovery Fund.

Greece is expected to submit the request for subsidy from the Recovery Fund to the European Commission in May.

Regarding the 5th request for loans and subsidies is expected to be submitted at the end of September or the beginning of October, Alternate Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis said, adding that the goal is to support entrepreneurship.

The largest Public Investment Program

According to the minister, Greece will have the largest Public Investment Program (PIP) of the last 14 years, totaling 12.2 billion euros together with the two NSRFs and the Recovery Fund. He estimated that more than 65% of the growth will come through these programs.

Regarding the value and course of investments, he said that in 2024 the growth rate of investments will be stronger due to the maturation of projects. For example, 45% of the loans that have been contracted will be disbursed this year, which also marks the implementation of the investments that have also been contracted.

22 PPP contracts

In terms of Public Private Partnerships (PPPs), there are 22 contracts totaling 2.5 billion euros aiming at the expansion of projects, while further projects of 7 billion euros are underway. Special mention was made of the progress of projects concerning universities, school infrastructures as well as the upgrading of lighting, the accommodation of services of the general infrastructure secretariat, as well as the 5 police directorates.

With reference to the Hellenic Development Bank (HDB), the aim is to widen the group of those who have access to the banking system.
