Interconnection of POS with cash registers-Penalties for non-compliance

1,072 businesses with a turnover of more than 1 million euros in 2023 have not yet implemented the relevant measure

The Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE) is about to initiate inspections on businesses with an annual turnover of more than 1 million euros, which have not proceeded to the interconnection of POS with their cash registers.

Based on the available data from AADE, there are 1,072 businesses with a turnover of more than 1 million euros in 2023 that have not yet implemented the relevant measure.

According to the AADE, the majority of them are restaurants, bars, nightclubs, catering companies, hotel bars and gas stations.

Therefore, AADE is about to contact these businesses in order to ascertain whether their non-compliance is due to negligence or force majeure.

Fines are imposed

Soon after, fines will begin to be imposed on businesses that have not been able to justify their non-compliance.

As emphasized in an announcement, AADE will then contact and impose fines to the rest of the businesses with a lower turnover that have not completed the interconnection of their systems in time.
