A tomb with a skeleton was discovered in Amphipolis

A large box shaped tomb with scattered iron and copper nails as well as bone and glass coffin ornaments were found by excavators 1.60 m below the floor level in Amphipolis, according to the Greek Ministry of Culture. Bones were also found inside and outside the tomb.

The outer dimensions of the tomb are 3.23 m. length., 1.56 m. width and 1 m “preserved” height. However, superstructure stringers found in the tomb during the excavations, allow archaeologists to assume that its height was at least 1.80 m. Notable is the fact the the third chamber’s total height from the top of the dome to the bottom of the tomb is 8.90 m.
