Approval for privatization of Egnatia tollway

Greece’s privatization fund (HRADF) on Wednesday gave the green light for the privatization of the Egnatia motorway, which runs across the breadth of northern Greece, from the border with Turkey in the east to the Ionian port of Igoumenitsa in the west.

An international tender is the next step, with a winning bidder set to acquire the operation, maintenance and exploitation of the tollway and three north-south road axes.

The latest privatization is one of several mandated in last year’s third memorandum, signed by the current leftist government and institutional creditors.
