Air passenger traffic up at Greek airports over Jan-Jul period

Passenger traffic at Greece’s airports was up by 8.6 percent over the first seven-month period of the year, compared to the corresponding period of 2015.

According to the country’s civil aviation authority, the number of passengers passing through Greek airports reached 28.62 million.

The number of flights was also up, by 4.7 percent, to reach 257,278, of which 111,211 were domestic flights (up 3.8 percent) and the rest overseas flights, which corresponds to a 5.3-percent increase from the same period in 2015.

In terms of the all-important July 2016 figures, 8.479 million passengers were recorded, for a total increase of 9.3 percent compared with July 2015. Airports servicing Athens, Iraklio on Crete, Rhodes, Thessaloniki and Corfu posted the biggest passenger figures for the month.
