All of the ancient Antikythera Mechanism’s inscriptions set for publication

A complete rendering of all the inscriptions inside the Antikythera Mechanism will be presented for the first time on Thursday in Piraeus, the culmination of a 10-year project by an international research team.

A special event will be held at the Laskaridi Foundation’s Library in the port city, hosted by the Foundation, the Antikythera Mechanism Research Project and the international science magazine “Almagest”, which will publish the relevant research findings.

The mechanism, discovered in an ancient shipwreck off the southwestern Aegean isle of Antikythera, has been described as a primordial analog computer used to predict astronomical positions and eclipses for seasonal and astrological purposes.
