Top German lawmaker, CDU/CSU official meets with Piraeus Bank president in Athens

The vice-chairman of the Bundestag’s CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group Michael Fuchs announced his intention to personally contribute to efforts at attracting more German investments to Greece, speaking during his meeting in Athens on Tuesday with the president of the Piraeus Bank group Michalis Sallas.

The two men also discussed issues affecting the Greek banking system’s stability and prospects for the sector as well as as the Greek economy, in general, ahead of what is expected to be next week’s successful conclusion of the delayed first review of the Greek program (third bailout).

Sallas said a conclusion of the first review is a particularly significant milestone in the effort to improve the economic environment in the recession-battered country.
