Chamber head says 2016 Easter season turnover down 7%, yoy

The pre-Easter season retail turnover in Greece was estimated to have slipped by 7 percent this year, in comparison with 2015, the relevant chamber of commerce head announced on Tuesday.

Hellenic Confederation of Commerce & Entrepreneurship (ESEE) president Vassilis Krokidis took to Twitter on Tuesday to cite a figure of 180 million euros in lower turnover this Easter season by retailers throughout the country. Easter Sunday was celebrated on May 1 in predominately Eastern Orthodox Greece, with the previous month or so considered as the Easter sales season.
