Main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Tuesday told participants at an investment conference in Athens that a priority for his center-right party is to attract up to 100 billion euros in investment to the crisis-battered country over the next few years.
Mitsotakis, who has thrust ND into a double-digit percentage point lead in all mainstream opinion polls taken in the country over the past year or more, ticked off the massive sum during his address at the conference, organized by the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV), which represents most of Greece’s industries and large-scale employers.
“In our ‘truth agreement’ with the business community we are clear: We will reduce tax rates, we will provide you with incentives. We’re expecting you to invest, to respect your employees and the environment,” Mitsotakis said, in addressing the conference.
