Outstanding state debts up in Jan., delayed review of ‘Greek program’ blamed

Outstanding debts owed by the state increased by 124 million euros in January 2016, compared with the last month of 2015.

Apparently, the need to restrict the Greek government’s cash deficits – in the face of a stilled delay review of the so-called “Greek program” agreed to with institutional creditors – increased debts owed by public hospitals, the national healthcare provider (EOPYY) and the civil servants’ fund.

Outstanding state debts reached 4.765 billion euros in January, up from 4.641 billion euros in December 2015. If delayed tax refunds are added to the figure, then the total exceeds 5.47 billion euros.
