International news reports on Wednesday referred to the commencement of a process that will change the name of no less than 136 state-affiliated organizations and agencies in the neighboring Republic of North Macedonia, as part of the Prespa agreement.
According to the Zaev government in Skopje, state-affiliated entities will have a week to change their official logos, seals and any form that relates to their name.
In most cases, the name “Macedonian” will be replaced by “national”. For instance, “Macedonian Television (MTV)” will be renamed to “National Television”; the “Macedonian” opera and ballet will also have the former replaced with “national”.
“Macedonian Rail” will duly be renamed to “North Macedonia Rail”.
Nevertheless, the name “Macedonian” will remain on the “Macedonian Institute of Literature”, as well as for the “Macedonian National Theater”, with no information provided so far on the two.
