Executives’ group warns against even higher tax hike

Greece’s Association of Chief Executive Officers (EASE) warned against the imposition of even higher tax brackets for top executives in the country, amid reports that the Greek government’s economic team is studying such a prospect.

In a press release, EASE warned that an imposition of “new and painful tax measures through an increase of already high tax indices and social solidarity (tax)” would be an unprecedented and misguided action.

“…Wealth is first created and then redistributed. This must be understood, otherwise the cow that produces the product will not survive,” a portion of the press release read.

The group, which represents top executives in the country, also warned that such a prospect would merely lead to the emigration of business people overseas.
