Hotels in winter destinations in Greece are at roughly 80 percent occupancy for the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, according to sector representatives.
The president of the Ioannina prefecture’s hoteliers’ association, Konstantinos Vlachos, put the figure at 75 percent for his northwest mountainous region, among the more popular winter destinations in Greece. He said more than 200 units of all sizes are now in operation.
Reservations in the Volos/Pilion region of central Greece extrapolate into a 70-percent occupancy rate for the holidays.
As with previous seasons, mountainous regions, especially with ski resorts, are the most popular winter destinations in Greece.
