Professionals in the maritime tourism sector are awaiting a joint ministerial decision that excludes certain categories of vessels from imposing VAT on their rates, based on the nautical miles they log.
The expectation comes after statements on Monday by relevant shipping minister Fotis Kouvelis and deputy economy minister Katerina Papanatsiou, during an even to present an online register of tourist and pleasure craft.
According to information gathered by “N”, the draft text will allow pleasure craft to prove whether they have sailed for more than 12 nautical miles for each journey, whereby VAT would be imposed. A journey of less than 12 nautical miles would exclude the provision.
