First locally owned, managed hydroelectric plant inaugurated in NW Greece

Greece’s first locally owned and managed hydroelectric unit was inaugurated on Monday in the Velventos district in northwestern Kozani prefecture.

The 1.9MW-unit is operated by a local Organization of Land Reclamation, with generated power expected to cover up to 280,000 euros in annual electricity costs for water pumping stations, with surplus profit going to maintenance of the irrigation system.
