Headless statue of Aphrodite discovered during construction work at Thessaloniki metro

A headless statue believed to depict the ancient goddess Aphrodite has been uncovered at a construction worksite for the metro project in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki.

The statue was found during excavation work at the Aghia Sofia station.

The discovery was announced on social media by the state-run metro consortium's president.
